October 21, 2019

Meeting called to order at 7:05 pm by Travis Klimek.

Present were Bob Steele, Doug Graham, Ernie Coleman, Chris Yens, Nancy Shaver and Travis Klimek. Absent were Hilary Slusher.

A motion to elect Nancy Shaver for Secretary Pro Temp was moved by Chris Yens and seconded by Bob Steele. With all in favor, Motion was carried.

Minutes from August 19, 2019 was handed out and a motioned for approval was moved by Chris Yens, seconded by Ernie Coleman. With all in favor, Motion carried.

Public Comment: Welcomed new Planning Commission member Nancy Shaver and verified she was sworn in. Discussed blight, cost of land divisions, and zoning in Shay Lake.

Zoning Administrator: 1 dwelling, 1 pole barn, and 4 splits.

New Business: none

Ongoing Business: Need a zoning map to be located at the township hall. Looking into making a new map with color coding to identify the different zoning areas. Also a digital copy to have for the township. Wetlands require 10 acres to build on. Exotic animals- MTA got back with Travis and there is no zoning in Michigan and nothing that can be done. That is what the Animal Control/Sheriff is for. As for permits they may be needed but it is very rare. Somebody with exotic animals could use them for meat and that would be considered farming/Right to Farm Act.

Motion to table Article 10 until next meeting was made by Ernie Coleman and seconded by Doug Graham. All in favor the motion carried.

The next Planning Commission meeting will be December 16, 2019.

Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Bob Steele and seconded by Doug Graham at 7:45pm. With all in favor, Motion carried.

Minutes taken by Nancy Shaver.
