Proposed Meeting Minutes

May 6, 2019

1.Call to order with pledge to the Flag-Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm

2.Minutes of Previous Meeting – Motion to approve minutes for previous meeting made by Lotter, seconded by Shaver, motion carried.

3.Public Comment –

The Cemetery Gate at the hall is not wide enough-post will be moved.
The fence will be painted.
There was a question raised about why the road commission tore up Hurds Corner road only a few years after it had already been re-surfaced
Who is responsible to trim trees along Hurds Corner? It is unclear between DTE and Road Commission
Chantiny Road needs work – we are currently waiting for rain to subside and frost to come out before much work can be done on dirt roads
There was a complaint from a resident about blight at Shay Lake – there is currently some work being done on this but there has been a lot of money put into making it nice around the lake. It is much better now than it used to be

6.Treasurer

Financial Report- Eleanor read financial report. We had a good income due to the delinquent tax, Revenue Sharing, etc. however expenses were high. There are no taxes being collected currently. Eleanor will be sending a letter out on the forclosures since we have first right of refusal. We are not going to accept the properties.   

7.Clerk

Expense Report-Tony read the expense report totaling $41,459.85. We removed Chris Yens from the original total since he did not attend the meeting this month. Motion to pay bills made by Lotter, seconded by Shaver. The Motion Carried.
Absentee-issued 88 received 77
Mayville School Election at Watertown Township Hall will be held on 5/7 between 7am and 8pm. It is located in the fire hall in Fostoria   

8.Unfinished Business-None

9.New Business-Psychiatric Hospital Resolution-County Board of Commissioners is asking townships to pass a resolution regarding the state hospital in Caro. The Governor has halted the replacement of the Caro Center and we are urging the Governor to keep it in our County. We have already have $3million into the project plus $277,000 that is needed for the state to re-assess the location. Motion to adopt the resolution made by Greg Lotter, Seconded by Tony Shaver. Motion Carried. Roll Call vote Lotter-Yes, Kilmer-Yes, Shaver-Yes, Cook-Yes. The Resolution is adopted and will be mailed to Governor Gretchen Whitmer, DHHS Director Robert Gordon, State Senator Kevin Daley, State Representative Phil Green, and Tuscola County Board of Commissioners.
