Proposed Meeting Minutes
August 6, 2018

1.      Call to order with pledge to the Flag-Meeting was called to order at 7:00pm

2.      Minutes of Previous Meeting & Election Commission Meeting-Motion to approve minutes from previous meeting by Steele motion carried-Minutes were read for election commission by Tony Shaver, Motion to approve minutes from Election Commission meeting by Steele seconded by Lotter, motion carried.

3.      Public Comment
A.    Doug Daniels-not present

4.      Reports
A.    County Commissioner-There is a lot going on at the County level. There is a windmill project in Juniata Township. Windmill projects are a township issue not a county issue. The County is working with the State land bank to get the land from the state hospital. More freedom to develop the land if it is owned by county rather than State. Quality Roast (a soybean company) wants to come in to Caro. County is looking to fix up the Caro Dam.   

B.     Ambulance-Glen Fox read previous meeting Minutes, new College Student Volunteer, State inspector came to inspect the rigs for the year and they passed, Ambulance is looking to purchase a new rig soon. 

C.     Library – Mayville

D.    Library – Kingston

E.     Planning Commission-Travis gave update on last meeting, they discussed article 3. He gave an update from their Frankenmuth seminar.

F.      Zoning Administrator-2 additions, 2 pole barns, 2 land divisions

G.    Blight Enforcement Officer-Bob has made a couple of contacts about blight. He requested someone to tear down a house.

H.    Cemetery-nothing to report

J.       Trustees-complaint on hill on Snover road

5.      Supervisor
A.    Roads-Snover road-DEQ wants more fill they are making gravel now for us, Brown Road is looking good-just 4000 ton of pit run on it, Hurds Corner road will be open for voting tomorrow. Hurds Corner road will be resurfaced next year. 

B.     Insurance-Bob met with insurance company with Tony. Regular insurance will be same cost, liability will be same as last year (around $20,000) this is due to lawsuit. Bob emphasized the excessive cost of this un-needed lawsuit. Insurance Company spent over $177,000 on the lawsuit and probably will be up to $190,000 before it is all done.

C.     Shay Lake Bridge-Nashville Construction from Charlotte MI won the bid on the Shay Lake Bridge. They will start mid September and set to finish mid November. They were the lowest bidder at $430,000 plus other costs. Will be $500,000 or more for the whole project. They had been set back due to shortage of steel.

6.      Treasurer
A.    Financial Report-Eleanor reported that resources have gone down lately, but taxes are coming in well.
B.     Other

A.    Expense Report-Tony read the expense report. Motion to pay the bills was made by Steele and seconded by Lotter. Motion carried.
B.     Other-Election tomorrow and things are in order.
