REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
June 4, 2018
Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. with the pledge to the flag. Members Bob Cook, Eleanor Kilmer, Tony Shaver, Bob Steele and Greg Lotter were present.
Minutes from the May 7, 2018 meeting were motioned for approval by Lotter and seconded by Steele. Motion Carried.
Public Comment: Question about blight issue. Issue was resolved.
County Commissioner: Gave an update, new Director hired, went to Lansing to get an update on state hospitals, working with county to get properties back on tax rolls.
Ambulance: No Report
Library - Mayville: No Report
Library - Kingston: No Report
Planning Commission: Meeting to be held 6/18, Frankenmuth Seminar in July for 4 to attend (lot to do with Farm Act), Must get information to Clerk ASAP so check can be prepared, beginning ordinance review at next meeting. Motion made by Bob Steele to send 4 to planning commission training in Frankenmuth seconded by Tony Shaver. Motion carried with 5 yes votes
Zoning Administrator: Issued 5 permits for pole barns. There were 3 land divisions.
Website has been successful with no fewer than 2,000 hits per month for the last 9 months.
Blight Enforcement Officer: Blight is good.
Cemetery: Eleanor reported that she got all flags out. She is looking for a civic group to take this on next year. There have been several cremations and burials this month. Some discussion about cemetery Drives.
Assessor: Concerns about 2 bills coming up. One in particular could be bad for townships. Encouraged everyone to be informed and involved. The bills are about restructuring the assessing procedure taking it out of township level and bringing it to county level. This would bring board of review to County level. MTA is supporting this. We need to let MTA know we don’t support it.
Trustee: No report
Supervisor: Shay Lake Bridge will start in July and will be a box culvert and is planned to be finished before school. Depends on how backed up the concrete plants are.
Treasurer: Eleanor reported on Income, Expenses, Assets, and fund balance. We have been getting caught up on old bills and prepayments on roadwork. She hopes to have taxes ready in the next couple weeks.
Clerk: Invoices and Payroll to be paid totaling $20,053.42 checks #8031-805. Motion made by Steele, seconded by Lotter to pay bills. Motion carried with 5 yes votes. Need to back bill for several fire runs.
New Business: Appointed interim Clerk Tony Shaver motion by Steele, seconded by Kilmer Roll Call Vote Bob Steel Yes, Greg Lotter Yes, Eleanor Kilmer Yes, Tony Shaver Yes, and Bob Cook Yes. Motion carried with 5 yes votes
